On Friday evening, September 4, 2020, heaven gained another angel. Doris Viola Taylor passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 26, 1942, in Toano, VA to the late Tunis Taylor Sr. and Pearl Brown Taylor. Doris was the oldest of six. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Tunis Taylor Jr. "Butch", Paul Taylor, and Ronald Taylor.
Doris graduated with the Class of 1961 from Bruton Heights High School in Williamsburg, VA. She retired from the Williamsburg- James City County Public School System. Doris enjoyed working with children. She especially loved to bake her pound cakes, which many people grew to love.
A life-long member of Chickahominy Baptist Church, where she served as a Deacon. She was a devoted servant of the Lord and continually praised him.
On August 12, 1961, Doris was united in holy matrimony to Osborne Taylor Sr. They enjoyed 59 years of happiness together. Some of her favorite moments were vacations to Nags Head with Os. They would sit on the balcony together and watch the dolphins and eat seafood. She was a devoted and proud mother, loving grandmother, and great-grandmother. Doris loved her family dearly. She was her happiest when they were all together. We praise God for the life she lived and the lives she touched!
Cherishing her precious memories are 3 children, Osborne Taylor Jr. (Diane), Jarrett Taylor (Leticia), and LeShane Lawson (Chris); 4 Grandchildren, Jessica Islas, Dana Taylor, Osborne Taylor III, and Kemora Taylor; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Avery Farrell and Brayden Boone; 3 Sisters, Jean Taylor, Latonya Mason (Clovis), and Pamela Smith (Alvin); 1 Sister-in-law, Debra Taylor; 2 Aunts, Georgia Brown Braxton and Evelyn Brown; 10 Nieces and Nephews, Alisa (Glen), Leon Jr., RaShon (Melandy), Rhonda, Yolanda (Michael Sr.), Rolanda (Wayne), Demetria, Tyrone, Dawanaca, and Corey. She also leaves to cherish her memory, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
Mrs. Taylor may be viewed from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020, in the funeral home. Face masks and social distancing will be required. A Livestream service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday.
