Dorothy Wallace

Mrs. Dorothy Wallace entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 5, 2020.  She was born on August 14, 1931, to the late Robert Wright Sr. and Marie Wright Christian.

Dorothy was educated at Morrison High School in Newport News, Virginia.  She was a faithful member of Rising Sun Baptist Church for 28 years.  She served as a Pastors’ Aide and was a former member of the Christian Chorus, Senior Choir, Inspiration, and Combined choir.

Dorothy worked as a Laundress at Fort Eustis; retiring in 1980 after more than 21 years of service.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Wallace; son Darnell; sister Aleine Perrin; three brothers, Clarence, Robert, and George Wright.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three nieces, Pearlene Washington of Newport News, Virginia, Charlene Dunbar Wright of Maryland, and Christetta Thompson (Charles) of Newport News, VA; four nephews, Donald Perrin (Patrice) of Newport News, Clarence Perrin (Jackie) of Hampton, Kenneth Perrin Jr. (Bonita) of Newport News, and Raymond Wright of Williamsburg; sister in law, Shirley Wright of Williamsburg; special friends, The Weishaar Family, whom she loved as her own; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and caring friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2020, in Rising Sun Baptist Church Cemetery, Yorktown, with Rev. David O. Spratley officiating.  Facebook Livestream will be available for this service.  Face coverings and social distancing are required.  Mrs. Wallace may be viewed from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
