On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, God sent His angel to the Hospice House of Williamsburg to bring home His loving daughter, Dorothy Wallace Jackson. Dorothy, affectionately known as “Annie” was born on May 8, 1938 to the late Virginia "Mama Deal" Wallace Taylor. She was a lifelong member of the Williamsburg community.
In her youth, Annie accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior and joined Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Williamsburg. She was a member of the church choir and found joy in singing to the Lord. She loved listening to gospel music and James Cleveland was one of her favorites.
On May 27, 1956, Annie joined in Holy Matrimony with Morris Jackson, Sr. Unto this union, they were blessed with two children, Morris Jr. “Eddie-Boo” and Angie. On May 27, 2020, they celebrated sixty-four years of marital bliss.
Annie was employed with Colonial Williamsburg for over 30 years, where she was a hard and dedicated worker.
Annie was an avid bowler and also played softball in her earlier years. She loved listening to gospel music. James Cleveland and Al Green were some of her favorite artists. She also enjoyed watching her “soaps “every day, taking walks outside to feed the birds, and pick magnolias. Spending time with her family was a treasure and she was a light to whoever crossed her path. She especially looked forward to mailing out Christmas cards.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Margo “Pinky” Wallace, brother, George “Butch” Wallace, and grandson, Carl “Monte” Jackson. Her legacy of love will forever remain with her husband, Morris Jackson Sr.; children, Morris Jackson Jr. (Sandra) and Angie Graves (Leroy); grandchildren, Derrick and Janeen Jackson, Ryan Graves, Jordan McCoy, and Jamahri Harrod; great-grandchildren, Gizelle Jackson and Aiden Augon-Graves; sister, Gloria Parker (Michael); brother, Marcel Taylor; sisters-in-law, Aurelia “Relee” Wallace, Marcia Boyd (Vince), and Annette Joseph-Walker; brothers-in-law, Harding Smith and Ronald Smith (Trinnese); nieces, Candace and Latoya Wallace and Jackie McCoy; aunt, Mary Wallace; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, special cousins, the Chohany family (whom she loved as her own), and friends.
