Edgardo Ortiz

Edgardo Ortiz, known as "Gotti" or "Galdy", was born on February 25, 1984, son of Mostra Claudio and the late Edgardo Ortiz in Erie, Pennsylvania.  Early Saturday morning, March 27, 2021, he departed this life for an eternal journey.

He lived in Erie until his teenage years when he moved to Philadelphia to spend time with his grandmother, later moving to Virginia, where he spent most of his life.  Edgardo's dream was to see the world.  He traveled to many places where he would spend time with his family. He lived in Florida, Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.  Edgardo was known for his hilarious personality and loved to joke and spend time with family.  He took pride in his job as a carpenter, where he worked all over the Hampton Roads area.

He leaves to cherish fond memories with his children, Diamontay Ortiz, Lorenzo Ortiz, and Lareina Ortiz; mother, Mostra Claudio; girlfriend, Jennifer Futrell; stepchildren, Arian Jones, Rico Jones, and Jamari Jones; siblings, Jessica Culpepper Ortiz, Gloria Rosario, Jalinda Rosario, Deniel Delgado, Edgar Ortiz, Osvaldo Ortiz, Yomayra Ortiz, Jailene Ortiz, Veronica Ortiz, and Edgardo Ortiz Jr.; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a wake service beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021, at Whiting's Funeral Home.  Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may in attendance at the service with facial coverings and social distancing requirements.  Live stream will be available at the beginning of the service.
