Edward Piggott, Jr., age 73, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2025, at the Hospice House of Williamsburg after a long battle with cancer.
Edward was the son of Mary and Edward Piggott, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Piggott; parents; daughter, Melanie Saunders Piggott Richardson; grandsons, Christian Marleaux Richardson and Austin Jayden Richardson; and sisters Evelyn Piggott-Travers, Shirleen Piggott-Walker, and Rosemary Allen.
Edward is survived by his son from his first marriage, Brett Piggott (Erin Greene); granddaughter Adira Greene-Piggott; brother George Piggott; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Edward served twenty years in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1992. He retired from the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune with the rank of gunnery sergeant.
Edward served two tours of duty in Okinawa, Japan. He primarily served stateside, starting with the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, SC, where he also underwent boot camp. He moved on to serve at what was then called the Regional Automated Service Center, Marine Corps Base, Quantico (where he supervised mainframe computer operations), and from there, he served at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. His last duty station was Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC.
