Elder Rodney Linwood Jones was born on February 5, 1963, to the late Robert and Lillian Jones. On Thursday, June 9, 2022, God saw his son getting tired and called him home to rest with his heavenly father.
Rodney or "Boo Boo" as he was so affectionately called, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at a young age and was baptized at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Later, Boo Boo and his wife Elder Linda Jones were ordained and became the Pastors of Grace Tabernacle Church of Deliverance under the direction of Apostle Donald A. Moss. Sr.
Rodney was a dedicated Landscaper at Kingsmill for over twenty years and was currently employed by York County as a Landscaping Technician. He was also the proud owner of R.L. Jones Lawncare and Creative Notions.
Boo Boo was a prankster and at times a comedian. His greatest attribute was his big heart. Boo Boo had a big heart for people, he never met a stranger and if he did, they parted as friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Colleen Jones. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted and loving wife of twenty-two years, Elder Linda C. Jones; son, Rodney Tyler (Felicia); daughter, Yolanda Johnson; grandkids, Tykeisha, Marichal, Rod'Nayjah, Naveah, MacKenzie, and Lily; brother, Floyd Jefferson (Josie); sisters, Sharon Givens and Bonita Jones Meekins; aunts, Ann Warfield (Louis) and Gloria Jones; uncles, Joe Jones (Burnett) and William "Sonny" (Carol) ; father-in-law, Lawrence Christian; mother-in-law, Rebecca Christian; uncle-in-law, Kenneth Christian (Myrtle); brothers-in-law, Alton, Ricky, Steve, Lawrence Jr., Kendall, and Wayne; sister-in-law, Lolita; four devoted friends, Rev. Thomas Wynne, Robert Gray, Bennie Wallace, and Apostle Donald A. Moss. Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at Bethel Restoration Center. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Elder Jones may be viewed on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Facial coverings are required.
