Eli Canady Jr.

On Friday, February 28, 2020, Eli Canady, Jr. surrounded by his loving family quietly and peacefully slipped into a blissful sleep and entered into the Land of Glory.  Eli was born November 2, 1944, to the late Eli & Lucille Canady. 

Eli attended Bruton Heights School, graduating with the Class of 1962. Eli worked twenty-nine years as a Waiter/Server with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and fifteen years at Golden Corral before retiring. Eli was introduced to the Lord and baptized at Mt Ararat Baptist Church at the age of 29 years old. In later years Eli rededicated his life and joined Mt. Pleasant  Baptist Church. Eli was an avid Bowler and softball player.

Eli was preceded in death by his parents, Eli & Lucille Canady; son, Brian Canady; two brothers, Robert & Douglas Canady; and sisters, Beatrice Canady Wormley and Gloria Watson. Eli leaves to cherish fond memories his wife of fifty-two years, Rosalind "Trenny" Canady; two sons, Terry Howard and Philip Canady (Victoria); five daughters, Rachel Greenhow, Tondalehya Wright (Karl), Dionne Canady, Lukeisha Wallace (Jamie Wolford), and Treka Braxton; thirty-one grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother, William "Buster" Moore; three sisters, Vivian Wallace (Roland), Doris and Alice Canady; daughter-in-law, Deborah Canady; three special children, Anthony Griffin, Torie Long, and Susan Gardner; a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends. 

A service to celebrate Eli’s life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Bethel Restoration Center.  Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.  Family and friends will assemble at the church by 10:30 a.m. Thursday.  Eli may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
