Elnora Brown

Elnora Brown answered the Master’s call on Monday, April 1, 2024. Her life began on April 14, 1928, to the late James Roy Lee and Mattie Graves Lee of Toano, Virginia.

Early in life, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Chickahominy Baptist Church.  Elnora was one of the oldest and most faithful members of the church until she became too ill to attend. On November 13, 2016, Elnora received the Faithful Octogenarian Award in recognition of her valuable service in the Kingdom of God. 

Elnora was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County public schools and later went to Ohio where she continued her education.

Elnora was employed at the Williamsburg Community Hospital.  She received employment recognition and retired as a housekeeper with the hospital, with more than twenty years of service. .

Elnora enjoyed and loved her family and had such a caring heart. She was loved by all who came in contact with her. Elnora had several family members that would either call her or she would call, and she truly looked forward to those daily calls. 

Although Elnora never had any biological kids, she raised Thaddeus Lightfoot and took him in as her beloved son. His passing on July 31, 2023, devasted Elnora and shook her to her core, she never bounced back from the hurt and devastation of losing her beloved son.

Elnora is also preceded in death by her husband Raymond Addison Brown; brothers, McKinley Lee, Oliver Lee, Richard Lee, and Clarence Lee; and sister Mattie G. Lightfoot. Elnora leaves to cf other loving relatives and friends.

A service to celebrate Elnora's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Chickahominy Baptist Church. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mrs. Brown may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of her service in the church.
