Eric Scott Jones

Eric Scott Jones was born in Richmond, Virginia on June 30, 1966.  He transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Eric grew up in New Kent, Virginia, where he graduated from New Kent High School before proudly serving in the United States Navy.

Eric was a dedicated employee at the Walmart Distribution Center, where he worked tirelessly and earned the respect of his colleagues. As a devoted lifetime fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Eric spoke of his love for the team with great pride. He enjoyed fishing, playing softball, and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.

On April 4, 2004, Eric married his beautiful wife, Gladys Jones, who survives him. This union was blessed with two beloved daughters, Vincheskia and Victoria, and two cherished sons, Naquain (Lacrecia) and Deon. Eric was also a loving grandfather to five beautiful grandchildren: Khloee, Kyliee, Gracie, Grayson, and Brielle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Inez and Walter Jones Sr.; brother, Anthony Jones; sister, Lisa Jones; stepmother-in-law, Wilmae Cobb; stepfather-in-law, Leon Alford; and brother-in-law, Levon Alford.

Eric is survived by his mother-in-law, Pauline Alford; father-in-law, Lee Cobb; siblings, James Jones (Sisley), Walter Jones (Lisa), Mary  Quivers (Joey), Kimball Jones (Martha), Sandra Berkley (Zack), and Delia Johnson (Wilson); brothers-in-law, Johnathan Alford, Checker Murchison, Samuel Atkinson, and Stevie Abraham; sisters-in-law, Jackie Alford, Lisa Murchison, and Monica Atkinson; his beloved aunt-mom, Virgie Johnson; great-aunt, Gertrude Bassett; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Eric’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

A service to celebrate Eric's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Whiting's Funeral Home with a viewing beginning at noon.
