Eric Bernard Long was born on May 18, 1959, to the late Thelmond N. and Franklin D.R. Long Sr., in Williamsburg, VA. He was one of six children.
Eric was a beloved, longtime resident of Williamsburg and a graduate of Lafayette High School. After high school, he pursued a career at Owens Illinois (OI) until his retirement. While working at OI, he decided to continue his education to become an electrician.
Eric was an avid fisherman and a lifelong fan of the Washington Commanders (formerly the Washington Redskins). He also loved spending time with family and playing cards. Eric loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother and father. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his siblings, Arlene T. Long, Paula D. Williams, Franklin D.R. Long Jr., Donald R. Long (Wanda), and Glenn F. Long (Carletta); eight nieces and nephews; twelve great-nieces and great-nephews; a great-great-niece; and a host of cousins and close friends, each of whom will carry a piece of him in their hearts.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2022, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Facial coverings are required.
