Faye Nelson Obituary

Faye Helen Nelson was born in Virginia on September 26,1954 to Thomas King and Helen Gray Boyd. She had a son, Marcus Nelson, who was born in 1979 and lived in Rhode Island. His father’s name is Melvin Nelson. On April 24, 1986, she gave birth to a second son and named him Dominic Menyon Serrao. His father is Clayton Serrao. On May 3, 1995, she married Irvin Lee Boykin. The marriage ended in divorce on December 21, 2009. During this union, no children were born.

On May 18,1975, Faye entered in the United States Army and served active duty for more than 17 years.  She was honorably discharge on September 29, 1992. During her military career, she served as Traffic Management Coordinator, Passenger Travel Specialist, Warehouse Operation Management. Faye was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Technical Course Development Ribbon, rifle (Marksman) badge and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Upon returning to Virginia, Faye received her certificate as a Certified Nurse Aide from Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Professions. On September 1, 2011, Faye was employed as a CNA with Eastern State Hospital for more than 13 years. In October 2023, she received an Emblem Award for Ten Years of Service from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Faye departed this earthly life on June 9, 2026, at her home in Williamsburg, Virginia. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas King and Helen Boyd; brother, James Brown; uncle, Charles Boyd; and cousin, Sherley White all from Middlesex County, Virginia.

Faye ‘s survivors are her son, Dominic Menyon Serrao Hodges residing in Charlotte, North Carolina and grandson, Chandler James Hodges in Concord, North Carolina.

Faye’s Remains will be resting at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery, Suffolk Cemetery.
