On December 29, 2023, Gary Wayne Kevin Randall was called home to be with the Lord, at Autumn Care of Suffolk. He was born on March 22, 1954, to the late Thomas and Sarah W. Randall. He was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, one brother, Jerome R. Randall, and sister-in-law, Della Randall.
At an early age, Gary was baptized and joined St. John Baptist Church, Williamsburg, Va. He attended York County Public Schools and graduated from York High School in 1972. Later, he pursued a career with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as a server and ended up as the Food and Beverage Manager at the Williamsburg Lodge. He retired on June 1, 2010, after several years of dedicated service due to health concerns.
He was quiet-natured and had a love for his family, friends, and people in general. He loved sports and his favorite team was the Washington Redskins (Commanders). Despite his illness, he enjoyed a good joke and had a hearty and infectious laugh that would automatically make those around him laugh. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. However, we know that he is no longer in pain and to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We humbly submit to God’s will and one day we hope to meet him on the other side.
Gary is survived by one brother, Dale O. Randall of Williamsburg, VA; nephew, Kevin J.J. Randall of Petersburg, VA; niece, Toni Hankle Randall of Jacksonville, Fla; a long-time girlfriend, Cordelia Hopper of Williamsburg, VA; great-nieces and great-nephews, Zoie Taylor Randall, Christian Jerrod Randall, Destani JayAnne Randall, Ryan Carter Johnson Randall, Evin Randall, and Ethan Randall; bonus sons, Jerrod Hopper and Jamarr Hopper; and a host of cousins and friends.
Mr. Randall may be viewed on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church, Williamsburg, with a funeral service beginning at noon. A recording of the funeral service for Mr. Randall will be uploaded on his obituary page 24-48 hours after his service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to Dale Randall.
