Gary Christopher Williams

Gary Christopher Williams, also known as “Mr. G”, fell asleep in death Friday morning, February 28, 2020.  He was born November 22, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York. 

Most of his formative years and schooling was in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  After completing high school, Gary entered the Military for three years, followed by three years in the reserves.  He worked at the Newport News Shipyard for over twenty-five years, as a Pipefitter, also acquiring other skills.

Gary was married to the late former Sandra Washington Banks of Williamsburg for five years. 

Many people were drawn to his easy-going and laid-back disposition, and even more drawn to how well he cooked.  He could make a mean chicken pot-pie or chicken & dumplings that would melt in your mouth.  Fishing was another favorite hobby of Gary’s as well as deep-sea fishing that he occasionally enjoyed with the guys.  He enjoyed listening to music and attending jazz festivals.  He came from a large family that he loved dearly and who in turn loved him.

Gary leaves fond memories with his beloved mother, JoAn Temple; sister, Carlissa “Lisa” Williams; brother, Vince Temple; nephew, Grant Temple; niece, Gabrielle Temple; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Whiting’s Chapel.  Family and friends to assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m.  Mr. Williams may be viewed two hours prior to his service on Thursday.
