Georgia Braxton was called to eternal rest on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Her life began on May 4, 1927, daughter of the late Millie Ann and Edmond Brown.
Georgia attended the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools. She worked as a Laundress for Howard Johnson until her health started to decline in 1985.
Georgia enjoyed spending time with her family, doing puzzle books, and watching her favorite rapper Snoop Dog, as well as Whitney Houston, and Tyler Perry.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Arleen Clayton, grandchildren, Deon Brown, Rhonda Lassiter, Jerry Jackson and Carlos Lassiter, and great-granddaughter, Jessica Smith.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her sons, Bobby Brown, Charles Brown (Annie), Jerry Hamilton (Hester), and Clarence Hamilton (Yvonne); daughters, Missy Hill (Wayne) and Geraldine Payne (Charles); special friend, Samuel Sneed; and a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A service to celebrate Georgia’s life will be held at noon Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Bethel Restoration Center. Facial coverings and social distancing are recommended. Livestream will be available at the start of the service. Mrs. Braxton may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
