On Monday, November 6, 2021, the Lord sent one of His angels to Mary Immaculate Hospital, Newport News, Virginia, on a special mission. The mission was to bring home, for eternal rest, our beloved, Georgia I. James. She was born on December 26, 1937, to the late Estelle and Raymond James in York County, Virginia.
She attended Bruton Heights School. She loved the Lord and confessed Christ as her personal Savior. She was a faithful member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, Williamsburg, Virginia, until her health prevented her from doing so.
Georgia was a loving and humble person. She was great at sewing and making pottery items. Everyone enjoyed her beautiful talents. Georgia was a member of the Senior Center, which she enjoyed every day as she participated in creating pottery items and other special crafts. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter, Georgia Jensen (Gary); son, Steven McClinton James; grandsons, Minister Dameian D. James and Leonard M. James; two great-granddaughters, Alexis and D’Mari; great-great-grandson, Zion; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms. James may be viewed on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of her service. Facial coverings are required at all services.
