“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted”.
Matthew 5:4
On Sunday, September 3, 2023, our beloved, Gloria Jean Cary, departed this life and answered the Master’s call in Toano, Virginia in her home.
In her youth, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined St. John Baptist Church in Toano, Virginia. She later joined in fellowship with New Zion Baptist Church in Williamsburg, VA; she served on the Usher Board Ministry.
“Gloria Jean” graduated from Bruton Heights School in June 1966. She attended Peninsula Business College, graduating in 1969. After graduation, she accepted a job with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. She later was employed at The World Bank, The White House, and AARP. After returning home to Toano, she accepted a position with AARP in Richmond, VA, where she retired. After retiring, she worked for Williamsburg/James City County Transportation Services for 5 ½ years.
She was a loving and caring person who made a lasting impression on everyone she met. To know her was to LOVE her. She loved God and life and was a helper to anyone in need. She loved her family unconditionally and unselfishly and would always put their needs before hers. Gloria Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but we find comfort in knowing she is resting in the arms of Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her father, Carl E. Cary; mother, Dorothy L. Cary; brother, Melvin Cary; and nieces, Aronda Cary and Shawna Cary-Hall.
She leaves to cherish her previous memories with her brother, Grady Cary (Jean); former sister-in-law, Odessa Cary; great nephews, Kevin Green (BreAsia), Taylor Green (Isha); great-great-nephews and nieces whom she loved like her own, Kayvion Green, Kaiden Green, Marie LeeChelle Green, and Aronda Myleah Green; bonus nieces, Rickia Robinson, and Jenean Robinson (Jermaine); a host of loving cousins, and many caring friends.
