Harriet Lemons Obituary
On Wednesday, December 23, 2020, our beloved Harriet E. Lemons suddenly departed this life in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, Williamsburg, Virginia. Her earthly journey started on February 11, 1945, daughter of the late Frances T. and John F. Lemons Sr. in New Kent County, Virginia.
She was educated in the New Kent County Public School System, graduating from George W. Watkins High School with the Class of 1963. She was employed with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation where she retired after several years of service.
Harriet spent countless hours crocheting afghans, sweaters, and scarves. She also loved a good search and find word game and tv shows like Rifleman and Gunsmoke. Her favorite hobby was her family. She loved spending time with them as much as they enjoyed spending time with her. She truly will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Lemons; six sisters, Mary Johnson, Patricia Walton, Helen Jeffers, Romayn Wright, Frances Duncan and Mareatha Lightfoot; and seven brothers, John Lemons Jr., Herman Lemons Sr., Curtis Lemons Sr., Lawrence Lemons Sr., Joseph Lemons, Little Bro, and Herbert Lemons. Fond and beautiful memories will forever be cherished by her sons, Antoine (Suprina) and Brian Lemons; five grandchildren, Antoine, Aliyah, Kortland, Kaiden, and McKenzie; aunt, Lillian Howard; two devoted nieces, Dale Pryor and Gill Minor; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Due to the current health pandemic, only 10 people may be in attendance. Facial coverings and social distancing are required. Facebook Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service.
