Harris Lee Jr.

Harris Lee Jr., 89, passed Friday, April 3, 2020, in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on May 8, 1930, son of the late Irene and Harris Lee Sr., of Williamsburg.

He graduated with the Class of 1947 from Bruton Heights High School in Williamsburg, Virginia.  In 1951, he graduated from St. Paul College in Lawrenceville, VA.  He later served in the United States Marines at Camp Lejeune.  After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Harris returned to Virginia and worked at the Newport News Shipyard.

Harris was married to the late Doris Lee.  Unto this union, they were blessed with two sons.  Later in life, while on a stroll in the Grove area, he met Robin L. Opie, and on May 11, 2013, they married and made their home in Croaker.

Harris was also preceded in death by a brother, Horace Lee.  He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Robin Lee; two sons, Collin Lee (Theresa) and Darnel Lee; three stepchildren, Johnathan Opie, Jamaal Opie, and Monique Redd; brother, Edgar Lee (Rebecca); sister, Katherine Curtis (James); and many other relatives and friends

A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2020, in Whiting's Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2020, in Little Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Williamsburg, with the Reverend Morris L.
