Petty Officer First Class Harry Edward Strother Jr., USN Ret. was born on August 15, 1958, to Harry E. Strother Sr. and the late Marilyn Carter in Boston, Massachusetts. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 11, 2023, in Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital, Newport News, Virginia.
He was raised in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated high school in 1976. At the age of twenty, he joined the United States Navy. During his tenure in the military, he served as an Aviation Ordancemen. He also served on many US Navy vessels traveling around the world and achieved numerous personal awards. He served his country honorably and retired after twenty years of faithful service. Upon retirement from the military, he earned his BA and MA degrees in Information Technology. In 2021, he ultimately retired at the age of sixty-two from performing his passions as an IT consultant.
"Sabertooth," as he was known by his friends, had many interests and hobbies, including coaching sports for children, music engineering, science and philosophy, computer programming, and cooking. He especially enjoyed riding his motorcycles and was a part of the X Rydaz Motorcycle Club.
He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Mark and Bryant. His memories and legacy will continue to be cherished by his four children, Shawndell E. Strother, Ciera S.A Clark, Kenitra D. Strother, and Sterling A. Stother; father, Harry Senior; sister, Corina; seven grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, and friends who loved him dearly.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Whiting's Funeral Home.
