Obituary

Helen Glorious Bartlett King, 90, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

A lifelong resident of Williamsburg, Virginia, Helen was educated in the York County School system, where she attended Bruton Heights. At an early age, Helen was baptized at the river and served at her family’s church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, in several ministries, including the Hospitality Committee, Missionary Ministry, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, and was an active choir member. Helen was all about her family. She would go without just to make sure her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were well taken care of. Her family, along with watching westerns, Family Feud, and listening to gospel music gave her great joy.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Preston King; parents, Hobart and Mary Bartlett; siblings, Lloyd Bartlett, Virginia Franklin, and Bernice Lee; children, Garrett Bartlett Sr., Lonnie Bartlett, and Debra Bartlett; and grandson, Devel Bartlett.

She leaves precious memories with her loving sister, Iris Jimmerson; devoted children, Kirkland Bartlett (Willanette), Angela Bartlett, Bruce Bartlett (Carleen), and Lenora “Yvette” Bagby (Donnis); faithful daughter-in-law, Karen Bartlett; bonus children, Larrie King, Marvin King, Lucy King, Johnnie King Jeannie Hill (Benny), and Idell King; grandchildren, Garrett Bartlett Jr., Racquel Bartlett, Hope Bartlett, Dion Bartlett, Kirkland Bartlett Jr. (Lilly), Graland Bartlett, Keenan Bartlett, Lakesha Bartlett, Jovan Frazier, Brushonda Bartlett, Chris Murdock, and Miles Bagby (Laura); great-grandchildren, Genesis Bartlett, Karizma Bartlett, Xavier Bartlett, Xazonta Bartlett, Dion Bartlett Jr., Dakota Holland, Emperor Bartlett, Jose Bartlett, Cardiair Franklin, Judah Lea Bartlett, Diondrea Bartlett, Navel Bartlett, Saria Blagg, Navi Blagg, Selah Bartlett, Ke’nizjha Jackson, Jay’Deon Jackson, Kamari Judge, Chase Francisco, Logan Francisco, Camela Murdock, Eden Bagby, Ava Bagby, Sage Bagby, and Kole Bagby; great-great-grandchildren, Xavion Bartlett, Skylar Bartlett, Zayden Bartlett, Serenity Newby, Cali Bartlett, and Kassidy Holland; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
