James S. Lewis Jr.

James S. Lewis Jr. was born on February 3, 1955, the son of the late Sarah Rebecca and James S. Lewis Sr., of Yorktown, Virginia.  He departed this life on November 26, 2024, in Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Virginia.

James was a 1975 graduate of York High School.  After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army.  He loved the Army, retiring on February 3, 2015, after forty years of dedicated service to his country. 

James met and married the love of his life Mae.  This union was blessed with a son.  He loved his wife and his son very much.  He also loved his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, DeWayne Lewis and Craig Lewis;  and sister Keren Haywood.

James leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife Mae A. Lewis; son James S. Lewis III; sister, Jacqueline Lewis; brothers, Eric Lewis (Jessi) and Steven Lewis; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Whiting’s Funeral Home.  Full military honors will be rendered at this time.  Mr. Lewis may be viewed on Saturday beginning at noon in the funeral home.
