Jeannette King  Obituary

Jeannette Morris King entered into eternal living on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in her home in Providence Forge, VA.  Her life began on November 1, 1957, to the late Edward and Melinda Green. Jeannette inspired so many people with a smile and personality that would lighten up the brightest room. Family and friends often referred to her as "Sparkle,” “Mama J,” “Jenny Boo,” “Net,” “Special K," and many more precious names.

In her youth, she gave her life to Christ and accepted him as her Personal Savior, and joined Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Barhamsville, VA. She retired from the Colonial Williamsburg Lodge as a prep cook after twenty-five years of service.

She was caring, loving and funny. As we all know she will always be known for “keeping it real”, “don’t take no mess” and “telling it like it is” personality.  Jeannette embraced and will always be a walking testament to “do unto others as you would have done unto you”. She was a genuine people-person always wanting, willing, and helping others with asking for nothing in return. She also loved music, the casino, crossword puzzles, and playing deuces, “and if you knew Jeannette, you quickly realized she was really good at deuces”. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves us with an amazing legacy and display of compassion, wisdom, and strength.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Malinda “Maxine” Griffin and Susie James, and brother-in-law William “Alpea" Griffin.

Left to cherish her precious memories and continue in her legacy and traditions are her life-long love of forty-two years, Albert ”Coop” Bernard Cooper; two sons, SFC David King Jr. (USA Ret.) and MSgt Solomon King (USA Ret.); ten grandchildren, Iesha Christian (Stacey Christian), Rashawd Rodgers, Tyriq King, Dajah King, Zackariah King, Solomon King Jr., Latavia Despojo, Shayla King, Brielle King, and Landyn King; three great-grandchildren, Ahkeem Christian, Ja’ Niyah King, and Maleiya Christian; two siblings, John Morris Sr. (Patsy Morris) and Eva James (Ward James); brother-in-law Paul James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. King may be viewed on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of her service.
