On Friday, November 29, 2024, our beloved Jesse Louis Cowles Jr. quietly entered eternal rest. He was born on July 1, 1969, to Jesse Cowles Sr. and Brenda Cowles-Jackson. He was the middle child of five children.
At an early age, “Lou Cane,” as he was affectionately called, developed a love for music and cooking. He would be in the kitchen watching how to make things from scratch and how to season foods. As an adult, he mastered that craft. He loved being around friends and family, who all became his taste testers, all while he cooked, played music, and entertained them with his jokes and laughter. Jesse also detailed cars, so if you wanted your vehicle to be clean on the inside and shine like new money on the outside, Lou Cane was the one for the job.
Jesse attended Lafayette High School. After high school, he joined the Jobs Corps and later worked several jobs in the Williamsburg area. In his downtime, he would draw pictures, from cartoon characters to images of people.
Jesse was united in holy matrimony to Georgia Ramgeet. This union was blessed with twelve years of marital bliss.
He is preceded in death by his nephew Raheem A King.
He leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories with his wife, Georgia; sons, Kailionie Cowles and Kashawn Cowles; father, Jesse Cowles Sr; mother, Brenda Cowles-Jackson (Darrin); brothers, Cleetis Cowles, Landis Cowles Sr., and Kyle Cowles; sister, Marshette Cowles-Thomas (Casey); godsons, Kamron “Jellybean” Johnson and Nicholas Pierce; his brother from another mother Steven Piggott; bonus family, Walter McGilvary, Clifton Frazier, Marvin “Skeeter” Hawkins, and Jose Pimentel Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Cowles may be viewed on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Professional services have been entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185. 757-229-3011 whitingsfuneralhome.com
