Thank you for blessing us with the presence of John Reid Jr. He was loving, kind, intelligent, and funny.
John Reid Jr. was born March 14, 1935, to the late Deacon John Reid Sr. and Julia A. Washington of Grove, VA. John Reid Jr was known as “John John and Daddy; he graduated from Bruton Heights High School in 1953. After graduation, John Reid joined the Air Force from May 1957 through May 1961.
John met his other half, Deloris Reid, and they were married on December 29, 1962. Their loving union lasted more than 57 years. It produced three loving daughters, Julia Annette, Lisa Lorraine, and Deborah Lynne.
John Reid confessed Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was baptized and joined Little Zion Baptist Church. He was on the Usher Board, Trustee Board and became a Deacon under the spiritual leadership of Rev. Linwood Gatling. He participated as a member of the male chorus.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for blessing us with the warm hugs, the lovingly smiles, the life lessons, and the funny wit of John Reid Jr. One of John Reid’s last statements was, “He lived a good life.” And we know he’s gone on to a much better life with the LORD. We can never thank you enough. Thank you, Heavenly Father.
He leaves behind his wife, Deloris Reid, three daughters, Julia, Lisa, (husband, Jesse Williamson), and Debbie. Two sisters, Melinda Ashby (husband Robert Ashby), Mary Williams. Granddaughter Tatiana; two grandsons, Jesse IV and Je’Quan. Nieces Deneise Hammond (husband Chris), Dana McFadden (husband, Corey). John Reid left behind a host of close relatives and friends.
Mr. Reid may be viewed from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, November 14, 2020, in Whiting's Funeral Home. A private Facebook Livestream service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
