John Shepperd III Obituary

John Wesley Shepperd III, age 62, affectionately known as the original “Shepp Dog” and “Johnny”, was born on September 20, 1958, in Williamsburg, Virginia.  He was the son of the late John Shepperd, Jr., and Clarice Shepperd.  He departed his earthly life for eternal rest in peace to be with the Lord on the evening of Thursday, December 17, 2020, in Anne Arundel Hospital, Annapolis, Maryland.  He was also preceded in death by his sister Allison Shepperd-Callis and brother Clinton Shepperd.

John attended the Williamsburg-James City and York County Public School systems.  He was a graduate of York High School, Class of 1977, where he played football and ran Cross-Country track.  After graduating, he began his career in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and honorably discharged after four years of service.  Settling in Maryland, he was currently employed at Overland Gardens in Hyattsville, Maryland, as a Maintenance Technician, where he worked until his untimely passing.

His cherished memories will always live through his loving and devoted wife Vivien Carney-Shepperd; his loving/loyal siblings, sister Olga Shepperd of Washington, DC and brother Kirk Shepperd, Sr. (Sherry) of Virginia;  two sisters-in-law, Ivy Dixon of Maryland and Mary Carney of North Carolina; three loving nieces, Lakeia Shepperd, Nicole Harris (Aaron), and Tenika Barrow; three nephews, Kirk Shepperd II (his ride-or-die), Joseph Carney, and Cameron Sanchez; one great-niece aka baby girl, Myah Harris; one great-nephew, Kent Harris; one god-daughter, Wendy Shepperd; five aunts, Julia McClester, Patricia Brown, Shirley Hundley, Norma Shepperd, and Willie Shepperd; one uncle, Edward Roberts; two great-aunts, Mary and Mae Cook; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
