Joyce"Bo-Bo" Ann (Bonds) Walker

On Thursday, March 25, 2021, our beloved Joyce Ann Bonds Walker entered into eternal rest at home, surrounded by her family and wonderful hospice care team from Personal Touch Hospice.  She was born on September 26, 1952, daughter of the late Leroy Bonds Sr and Alice Spratley Bonds, in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Joyce was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools.  She worked several jobs to include the Econo Lodge of Williamsburg and the Virginia Gazette.  She confessed Christ as her personal saviour and was a faithful, longtime member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church until her health prevented her from doing so.

Joyce Ann, affectionately known to her babies as “Bo-Bo”, was a loving, caring, compassionate, and giving soul.  She had a smile out of this world and cared for her family and friend.  Her true gift from God was her dedication to taking care of children.  “Bo-Bo” was a great cook.  For over 30 years her babies loved her Oodles of Noodles, fried bologna, and pizza on Fridays.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry T. Walker; brother, Alvin Holloway; and sister, Juanita B. Jones. She leaves to cherish precious memories, her loving daughters, Tracie Johnson (Darnell), Theresa Walker (Kelvin), and Natasha Russell (James); grandchildren, Natoria Walker, Na'Quan Piggott, Ja'Nita Russell; six great-grandchildren; sister, Annette Washington (Floyd); brother, Leroy Bonds Jr. (Patricia); sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Walker, Dorothy Jefferson, and Martha Walker; a special live-in friend who she called “That Girl”, Lonnie “La-La” Walker; and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Bethel Restoration Center.  Interment to follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.  Mrs. Walker may be viewed on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her service in the church.  Facial covering and social distancing required at all services.  Facebook Livestream will be available at the start of the service.
