Keith Arnold Pressey Sr.

Keith Arnold Pressey Sr. earned his heavenly wings on Sunday, January 9, 2022. His life began on July 27, 1949, being born to Thomas Pressey and Thelma Vaughn Pressey of Williamsburg, Va. who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his aunts, Maurice Russell, Hazel Morriss, Roberta Brown, Elizabeth Jimmerson, and uncle, Earl Vaughn.

He received his education in the Williamsburg-James City County Public School system. In June of 1967, Keith joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in November of 1969. At an early age he gave his life to Christ and accepted Him as his savior and joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Williamsburg, VA and later joined The Historical Zion Poplars Baptist Church Gloucester, VA.

Keith worked for Eastern State Hospital where he met his wife, Helen. He later was hired at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, VA, and retired after thirty years of service.

Keith loved ALL sports, especially baseball.  He could hit a home run with the greatest of ease. The Philadelphia Eagles “Fly Eagles Fly” was his favorite team to follow. He also loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Keith Pressey Jr. (Erica), Kristin Anderson (Benjamin), and Keeta Jones (Michael); stepson, Charles Banks (Sheila); brothers, Kelvin Pressey (Sylvia), Brian Pressey Sr. (Andrea), and Marvin Pressey (Karen); sisters, Miranda Sadler, Janis Chisman, and Karen Ruttley (Stanley); grandchildren, Kenneth, Cassandra, and Autumn; step-grandchildren, Latoya (Renita), Jazmine, Charles, Raquel, Benjamin III, and Caleb; step-great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Arianna; brothers-in-law, Robert Larrimore and Donald Larrimore (Mabel); sisters-in-law, Margaret-Ann and Emily Phillips (Anthony); an aunt-in-Law, Queen Elizabeth Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, in Newington Baptist Church, Gloucester with a viewing beginning one hour prior.  Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service.  Interment with military honors to follow in the Historic Zion Poplars Baptist Church Cemetery, Gloucester.  Mr. Pressey may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Williamsburg. Facial coverings are required at all services.  Due to Covid, there will not be a repast.
