Kervin Ashby Obituary

Mr. Kervin R. "Light Bulb" Ashby, answered the Master’s call peacefully on August 18, 2020, in Bonview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond, Virginia; where he spent the last nine months of his life.

To know Kervin was to love him.  He was full of life.  He was always dressed up riding his bicycle, no matter if it was hot or cold outside. He even rode his bicycle in the rain, with an umbrella; looking like Mary Poppins’ Brother.  He loved to be sharply dressed, and would even cut grass in a 3-piece suit and shiny black shoes.  Kervin easily made friends and had a great sense of humor that would keep you laughing for days.  His passion was playing Horseshoes, and you had to be pretty good to beat him.  He played in a lot of different places from Charles City to his brother Ronnie’s back yard and anywhere he could.  He won many awards and accepted the bragging rights of being the winner.

Light Bulb, as he was affectionately called, earned that name and now his light is shining bright in Heaven with his lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Kervin accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined hands in fellowship with Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Kervin was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Arlene Ashby.  He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Judy Ashby; siblings, Deborah Jones, McKenneth Ashby (Rosa), Rev. Lucinda Rivers, Dea. Ricky Ashby (Arlene), Ellery Ashby (Michelle), Sherrie Ashby, Terrence Ashby (Yulonda); uncles, Morris Piggott and Don Piggott; aunts, Cora Ann Brown and Cynthia Ashby; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many caring friends.
