La’Shawn was born on January 30, 1975, in Williamsburg, VA, to Phyllis Owens and Leonard Jerome Shellman. She entered eternal rest on November 5, 2024.
Her only dream was to become a star and sing on a stage in front of millions of people and she accomplished that dream. She started singing at a very early age and entertained millions with her angelic voice. She won many souls to Christ as a result of her God-given talent.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Aquilla and Rogers Shellman and Mary and Preston Owens.
La’Shawn’s legacy will be carried on by her mother Phyllis Gilliam; father Leonard Shellman; two sisters, Shawnda and Tamaron; three sons, Darian Shellman, Damian Shellman, and Deven Shellman; grandchildren, Darian Jr., Kayla, Kaleb, Rose, Lily, Olivia, and Charlotte; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and fans of the group Sista.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Mt. Calvary Seventh Day Adventist Church, Williamsburg.
