LaVonzo Holt, affectionately called “Bird” by family, was born on July 15, 1959. He received his heavenly reward on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Henry Holt, as well as his brother Jimmy Holt.
A native of Hobbs, New Mexico, LaVonzo graduated from Hobbs High School. In his later years, he received his certificate to perform all duties of the ministry from Universal Christ Church Modesto, California. He owned and operated S.O.C.K. Janitorial Inc., which stands for Soldiers of Christ Kingdom.
In his free time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys, designing wooden clocks, and spending time with his family which he held near and dear to his heart.
He leaves to cherish fond memories with his children, Keasha Holt of Carlsbad, NM, MiMi Franco (Jeremy) of Carlsbad, NM, Nicholas Bates of Little Rock, AR, Natasha Bates of Hobbs, NM, Najee Holt of Portsmouth, VA, Shimyael Holt of Portsmouth, VA, and a devoted bonus son and business partner Andrew McAllister of Portsmouth, VA; eight grandchildren; brother, Donald Holt of Inglewood, CA; sisters, Serita Holt of Newport News, VA and Joyce Martin (AJ); two special friends, Kajuana Abbott of Portsmouth, VA and Myco Holland of Portsmouth, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Whiting's Funeral Home.
