Lafaith "Cookie" M. (Meredith) Graves

Lafaith M. Graves, affectionately known as “Cookie,” entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 24, 2022, in Mary Immaculate Hospital, Newport News.  She was born on January 7, 1963, to the late Robert Meredith Sr. and Pernell White Meredith of New Kent County.  She was raised in the loving homes of Rev. Carl and Geraldine Roberts and her aunt, the late Mary Harris.

She graduated with the Class of 1982 from Lafayette High School and furthered her education at St. Paul’s College.

On June 30, 2000, Lafaith was united in Holy Matrimony to James D. Graves.

Lafaith loved the Lord.  She accepted Him into her life and was baptized at Miracle Temple Baptist Church, Newport News.

Cookie was a loving and kind person.  She was a die-hard Denver Broncos fan.  She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl Meredith and Thomas Meredith.  Her memories will forever remain in the hearts of her daughter, LaShonta Meredith; son, Shondelera Meredith Sr.; grandchildren, Sierra, Juele, Marion, Jalyle, Yah’Mira, Shondalera Jr., Kevon, Ny’vontae, Adore, Skylar, and Dee’lacy; sisters, Sharon Smith, Angie Palmer, and Rosalyn Roberts; brothers, Robert Meredith Jr, Louis Meredith, and William Meredith; special friends, Rena Pridget and James Vaden; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Whiting’s Funeral Home.  Livestream will be available at the beginning of the funeral service.  Interment will be private in Cedar Grove Cemetery at a later date.  Mrs. Graves may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
