On January 22, 2020, our beloved brother, uncle, and friend, Larry D. Stokes was called to eternal rest. He was born on October 8, 1951, to the late Sophronia W. and James Garfield Stokes, of Williamsburg, Virginia.
He was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County School system; graduating from James Blair. He retired from the College of William & Mary after years of dedicated service.
Larry loved to draw and was very good at doing it. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with his sister Evangeline. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish fond memories with his sister, Evangeline Bowman (Charles); brother, James Stokes; nephews, Daryl and Kevin; uncle, Wardell Wallace (Alease); special friend, Bridgette Hopkins; and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, in Whiting’s Chapel. Interment to follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Stokes may be viewed on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his service.
