Lawrence J. Woodley Jr. affectionately known as “Tuddy”, was born on September 16, 1955, to Susan and Lawrence Woodley Sr., in Charles City, Virginia.
Lawrence accepted Christ at an early age and attended Charles City County Public Schools. Lawrence worked for The City of Hampton for many years and also worked in maintenance for 7 years at Ivy Homes Apartment Complex in Hampton, VA.
Lawrence was a fun-loving person, who was always laughing. He had the biggest heart and would do anything for anybody if he could. He was always a happy go lucky person who enjoyed all sports, especially wrestling. He was a great man with a sweet spirit and will be greatly missed.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence J. Woodley Sr. and brother, Ronald Woodley. He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Mary Woodley; three sons, Lawrence Miles of Hampton, VA, Antonio Burnett of Durham, NC, and Jermain Logan of Hampton, VA; six daughters, Loyce Taylor of Hampton, VA, Monica Davis of Newport News, VA, Karisha Burnett of Durham, NC, Myesha Pope-Everson (Lavon) of Austin, TX, Dominique Logan of Hampton, VA, and Ammie Logan of Miami, FL; twenty-nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; mother, Susan Woodley of Charles City, VA; four brothers, Lorenzo Woodley of Newport News, VA, Larry (Carrie) Woodley of Charles City, VA, Donnie Woodley (Elsie) of Charles City, VA, and Kenneth Woodley (Michelle) of New Kent, VA; four sisters, Vanessa Otey of Charles City, VA, Deloris Williams of Hampton, VA, Valerie Miles of Richmond, VA, and Twana Jones of Richmond, VA; two uncles, Robert Woodley (Diane) of Charles City, VA and Allen Woodley of Henrico, VA; three aunts, Annis Woodley of Philadelphia, PA, Barbara Brown of Richmond, VA, and Cecilia Brown of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends among them two devoted friends, John Alexander and Rev. Curtis Bowman.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance with facial coverings and social distancing requirements.
