Linda Grace Holmes

February 25, 1956 ~ March 21, 2022 (age 66)

Obituary

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,”
Matthew 11:28-30

Linda Grace Holmes was born in Fayetteville, N.C. on February 25, 1956, to Reuben and Rutha Holmes. On Monday afternoon, March 21, 2022, God whispered her name and ushered her into His heavenly realm.

Linda was a graduate of Fayetteville City Schools and completed college courses at St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, N.C. She loved to stay busy and volunteered at the Veterans Hospital, recreation centers, and several other establishments. Despite her disabilities, Linda became an independent entrepreneur. She affectionately made crafts such as pillows and what-nots and musical CDs. Often, Linda just gave items away and overlooked any profits.

Linda cared for and claimed family as an essential tool in her life. She loved laughing, spending time, and playing cards with family and friends. Everyone admired Linda’s warm SMILE, which was guaranteed to brighten the whole room. Rarely did Linda complain or flinch to despair with all the trials and adversities she went through. Linda was a trooper and was more concerned about others’ well-being than her own. She also enjoyed the church family visits and bible studies, especially when she could not physically attend church service. Linda was kind, patient, driven, and true to her name, “Grace.”. She always extended an encouraging word and made daily calls to check on others. Her devotion will be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Reuben Jr., and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory and is survived by her loving and devoted parents; a dedicated sister, Pamela Thompson of Providence Forge, Va.; two nephews, Julius (Cheretta) Holmes of Tucson, Az., and TJ Thompson of Annandale, Va.; three great-nephews, Jayden, Bryson and Avery; aunt, Ella Brown; and a host of cousins and special friends.
