Linwood Irvin Evans, Jr., 75, of Williamsburg, VA, transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. He was born on April 30, 1949, the son of the late Rozelma and Linwood I. Evans Sr. He was also preceded in death by his nephew Bruce Evans Jr.
At an early age, Linwood was baptized and became a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He graduated from Berkley High School, Williamsburg, VA, in 1967. He later served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on September 21, 1970. After returning home, Linwood was employed at Anheuser-Busch for thirty-eight years. He also volunteered his services for five years with the Disabled Veterans Association until his health started declining. He loved traveling, baseball, fishing, good food, and most of all, he loved and adored his family He was totally devoted to them.
On June 20, 1980, Linwood married the love of his life Hattie. He also leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Coty Evans; grandson Jessie Carter, Jr.; brother Bruce Evans, Sr. (Joyce); sister Berniece Bailey; goddaughter Tarsha Cook; godson Stedman Wade; sisters-in-law, Ann Tabb, Macie Johnson, and Lou Ethel Craddock; brother-in-law Lindbergh Johnson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, dedicated cousins, and friends.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Per Mr. Evans’s wishes, there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association.
