Loretta Joyce Meekins Paige, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at home in Charles City, Virginia. She was born on December 4, 1949, to the late Pearl Lee Randall Meekins and James Lemco Meekins Sr., in James City County, Virginia.
At an early age, Loretta was baptized and joined Chickahominy Baptist Church in Toano, Virginia. She later joined Liberty Baptist Church in Charles City, Virginia.
She was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County School System. On September 4, 1971, she was united in holy matrimony to the late James Edward “Jimmy” Paige Sr., in James City County, Virginia.
She worked for several years with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. She also worked as a housekeeper in Williamsburg and babysitter for family and friends.
Loretta truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as: being a caregiver to family and friends, cooking meals with loving care, gardening, and spending time with loved ones. She had an uncanny ability to make you feel at home, provided positive advice, and was a nurturer to all who knew her.
She is also preceded in death by her daughter, ReVonda Meekins; son, James “JJ” Edward Paige Jr.; brother, Kirke Zeffery Meekins; and brother-in-law, Silas Paige.
She is survived by her loving son, Brian Sterling Paige (Renee) of Charles City, Virginia; loving daughter, Mariah Minns (Michael) of Richmond, Virginia; five brothers, James Lemco Meekins Jr. of Grafton, Virginia, Wilbert Meekins Sr. (Betty) of Newport News, Virginia, Gilbert Edward Meekins (Roz) of Hampton, Virginia, Howard T. Meekins (Janice) of Elberon, Virginia, and Andrew Emanuel Meekins Sr. (Arden) of Toano, Virginia; four sisters, Coloris Jones (Willie) of Hampton, Virginia, Josephine Jefferson (Floyd), Yvonne Grant, and Cathy Acree (Irvin), all of Toano, Virginia; four aunts, Catherine Cook and Muneerah Abdul-Musawir (Taswir), both of Hampton, Virginia, Louise Dancy of Newark, Delaware, and Dora Kinchen (Rudolph) of New Castle, Delaware; two brothers-in-law, Earl Brown and William Paige (Ann), both of Charles City, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Earleen Brown and Shirley Paige, both of Charles City, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A service to celebrate Loretta's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Whiting's Funeral Home, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service.
