On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, God sent His angels to VCU Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, to bring home for eternal rest his beloved daughter, Lorraine Reed Hawkins. Her life began on April 5, 1957, the daughter of the late Lois Reed Wise and Adrell Reed of Toano, Virginia.
Her family and friends cherished her. She was a loving person and would give the clothes off her back to anyone. She was a second Mom to so many people. She provided a place to stay to so many people, even those who were not family. She loved her music and a hot piece of fish (Croaker). No matter what she was going through, she always kept a beautiful smile on her face. She stayed strong and fought a good fight. Now her battle is over. Although we will miss our beloved Lorraine, we find peace in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Wallace; and two sisters, Darcella Reed and Rosemary Reed.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her sons Leon Hawkins and Orrie Hawkins; daughters, Patricia Hawkins and April Hawkins (Ernest Lipscomb); brother Walter Wallace; aunts, Audrey Reed, Rosa Champman, Lenora Meekins, Celestine Coles, and Mildred Harris; uncle Sydney Reed; a special son-in-law Leslie Berkley; a special and devoted friend Miles White; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Bethel Restoration Center, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Professional services have been entrusted to the staff of Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185. 757-229-3011 whitingsfuneralhome.com
