On Friday, January 3, 2020, God called home to eternal rest, our beloved Mable Gay LeSane in the Riverside Doctors’ Hospital, Williamsburg, Virginia. She was born in Wakefield, Virginia on May 22, 1938, the daughter of the late Andrew E. and Ida Evans Gay.
At an early age, Mable became a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Dendron, Virginia. Later in life, she moved her membership to Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg, Virginia under the leadership of Rev. Wilbert E. Warren.
Mable resided in Sussex County most of her life and was educated in the Sussex County School System. Her first job was working as a School Teacher with the Sussex County School System. She later worked as a custodian for the Williamsburg Pottery and Eastern State Hospital. She was also a Beautician.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Frank Turner. Unto this union, they were blessed with one son.
About 25 years ago, Mable moved to Williamsburg to reside with her son. She has been a resident of Envoy Convalescent Center for the past two years after her health began to decline.
Her hobby was making macramé plant hangers, which she really enjoyed.
Mable leaves to cherish her fond memories with her dearest and caring son, Anthony Turner (Brenda); grandchildren, Antwain Allen, Thomas Black, Lalita Turner, and Latashia Black; nine great-grandchildren; her close friend, Jacqueline Braxton-Marrow; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends in Williamsburg and Sussex, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020, in Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg. Family and friends to assemble at the church by 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Mrs. Lesane may be viewed on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her service. Interment will be at a later date in Booker T. Memorial Park, Wakefield, Virginia.
