Malinda "Lynn" Shereece Cowles peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, departing this world for a place free of pain and suffering. Lynn was born on September 14, 1970, in Williamsburg, Virginia, the beloved daughter of Ms. Ernestine R. Cowles and the late Clifton C. Bartlett.
Affectionately known as "Lynn" to all who loved her, she was a proud graduate of Lafayette High School and furthered her education at Tidewater Tech Community College. She was also a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church in Lightfoot, Virginia.
Lynn had a warm and vibrant spirit that drew people to her wherever she went. She had a genuine love for people, especially children, and devoted much of her time to nurturing and caring for little ones through her work as an in-home babysitter and caregiver. Her joyful presence and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of getting to know her.
Lynn was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elnora Cowles; her father, Clifton Bartlett; and her uncle, William "Bill" Cowles.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted mother, Ms. Ernestine R. Cowles; her beloved daughters, Martika S. Armstrong (Gideon) and Lanika S. Watson (Touré); her cherished grandsons, Jaiceon and Elijah Armstrong; her sisters, Carla A. Thomas (John), Deborah Wright, and Melissa Delaney (Gary); her nieces, Tecorra M. Crew (William) and Satori P. Dillard (Christopher); her great-nieces, Jai 'Miah Cotton, Jaylen Crew, and Sanai Dillard; her great-nephew, Christopher Dillard Jr.; and her uncle, Kent Cowles.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Zion Baptist Church. Ms. Cowles may be viewed beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of her service. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
