Marian Elizabeth (Wade) Jones

Marian Elizabeth Wade Jones entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025. She was born on February 4, 1942, in Charles City, VA, to the late Hurley Wade Sr. and Alleen Wakefield Wade.

From a young age, Marian accepted Christ and was a lifelong member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the usher ministry and hospitality committee. She attended school in Charles City County graduating from Ruthville High School.

Marian dedicated many years to the hospitality industry, working at establishments such as Francis Nicholson Inn, the Williamsburg Hilton, and eventually retiring from the Hospitality House after over twenty-five years of service.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching the hummingbirds that frequented her deck, collecting rabbits, eating out, and car rides with her daughter. Marian was renowned for her culinary delights, including her famous bread pudding, blackberry cobbler, chicken dumplings, cornbread, and green beans.

On October 4, 1975, she married the late Carroll Lee Jones Sr. They enjoyed forty-five years of marriage prior to his passing.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was preceded in death by her two brothers, Hurley Wade Jr. and Thomas Washington Wade; cousin Charlotte Louise Stone, who was like a sister; brothers-in-law, Henderson Bartlett and Joe Lewis Jones; and sister-in-law Arlene Jones.

Marian's cherished memories will live on with her daughter Katrina Wade Jones (Stanley); sisters, Lillian Wade of Bladensburg, Maryland, and Fannie Bartlett; sisters-in-law, Doris Wade and Yvonne Howard; special cousin Vernice Wade; nephews who were like sons, Chauncey, Brian (Brenda), and Carnell (Donna) Wade; special nieces, Rita Smith (John), Pamela Wade, Doreen Bartlett, Stacey Johnson and Bonita Schley (Carl); stepsons, Carroll Jones Jr. (Sharon) and Alan Jones Sr. (Dawn); goddaughter and great niece Charrise Graves (Ketron); special nephew Rodney Bradby (Crystal); six step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; Channing Wynn (Trae), Sharita Roberts (Shaun), Katrice Wade, Sakiese Wade, Janay Osborne, Brittany Ciara Franklin (Andrew), Yolonda Wade, LaStasha Johnson, Kevin Woodley, Brock Hughes, Stedman Wade (Briel) and Armond Winston; nieces, Lisa Johnson(Chris), Lori Crewe(Kerry) and other beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service to celebrate Marian's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Liberty Baptist Church - Charles City. Interment to follow in the Wade family cemetery. Mrs. Jones may be viewed beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the hour of her service.
