On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, our beloved Mrs. Marie C. Foster was called to her eternal rest. She slipped into a peaceful sleep and entered into the “Gates of Heaven”, in St. Francis Nursing Center. Her life’s journey began on December 16, 1929, the daughter of the late Agnes S. and Thomas Curtis, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In her youth, she gave her life to Christ and accepted Him as her Personal Savior. She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Yorktown. She served her church as a member of the Hospitality Ministry, the LA Norton Society and the cashier for the Audio Visual Ministry. Marie faithfully attended the Wednesday Noon Bible Study.
She was united in Holy Matrimony with the late Chester Lamar Foster, Sr. Marie, as she was so affectionately called, “Grandma Bunn” or “Bunn”, retired from York County Public Schools, after twenty-four years of dedicated service. She would refer to herself as a “home-body”. She loved cooking, baking pound cakes, pumpkins bread, and sweet potato pies. She also enjoyed reading the Word, reading the daily newspaper, watching TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, TBN and reading the weekly Sunday Service Programs-line by line. She loved her special chats on the phone with her special friends and neighbors or sending or receiving cards from her special friends.
Marie was a loving, kind and devoted mother and grandmother, who enriched the lives of her children and grandchildren in so many ways. Her love for her family was apparent to all who knew her. She was a joy and an inspiration to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but she left us with a wonderful legacy of wisdom and love. She has now joined the Heavenly Angels and we find comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Delores Curtis Williams and Thomas Curtis, Jr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Chester L. Foster, Jr., Terence A. Foster (Zina) Marlene Foster Cherrye and Marlon A. Foster (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Omar, Gregg, Brandon, Sherelle, Andra, Avis, Briana, Julian, LaTasha and Takiyah; her great-grandchildren, Antionette (William), Ty′Easha, Ja′Lynn, Terriyon, DaMya, Tomar, Az′Unique, Alisjsha, Ny′Asia and Cedron; her great-great-grandchildren, Kaedyn and Nakai; her sisters-in-law, Ethel Braxton Curtis and Rose Marie Banks (Kenny); her special family, nieces, nephews, Howard Curtis (nephew) cousins, Annie Marie Jones (cousin), Rufus Wyche, Frankie Cherrye, friends, neighbors, Pastor Lemon, Deacon Lemon and Shiloh Baptist Church Family.
