On Saturday, August 29, 2020, surrounded by her family, Marjorie Taliaferro Morris answered the Lord’s call and went home peacefully to receive her wings.
Marjorie Taliaferro Morris, known as “Margie,” was born May 1, 1940 to the late John Henry and Lucille Ashlock Taliaferro in Newport News, Virginia. She was the oldest of two children.
Margie was a 1958 graduate of George Washington Carver High School. Upon graduation, she worked at Parent Child Development Corporation (PCDC) for over 10 years and Newport News Public Schools for over 20 years.
Margie was a faithful and dedicated member of Rising Sun Baptist Church, Lackey, VA. She faithfully attended Sunday School and Noon Day Prayer. She previously served as the church clerk for over 34 years. She also was a Senior Usher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and worked in the Finance Office. Currently, she was serving in the “Helping Hands” Missionary Ministry, the Women’s Ministry, and a Church Historian. She loved her church and church family.
Margie loved doing word search puzzles, watching TV, listening to gospel music and making special memories with her family. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved giving gifts to her children and grandchildren and seeing the joy on their faces. Her utmost joy was felt when she shared the story of the greatest gift of all, our Lord and Savior. Margie was also known for her baking, especially her 7-Up pound cake.
