Mary Martha Johnson

On Thursday, January 6, 2022, Mary Martha Johnson a loving wife and mother passed away to be with the Lord. She was born on February 22, 1935, in Lawrenceville, VA to the late Robert T and Marie E Walker. 

At an early age, she confessed Christ as her Personal Savior.  She was a loving and devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church, until her health began to fail.

On April 2, 1971, she married Lionel Johnson.  This union was blessed to raise two daughters, Sheila and Starr, and two sons, Marvin and Donald.

She retired from York County School Division after many years of faithful service.

She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.  We thank our heavenly father for her long life here on earth with us.

Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Robert, Raymond, and George; one sister, Eva Davis; and son, Donald Walker.

She leaves everlasting memories to be cherished by her husband, Lionel Johnson of Yorktown VA; three children, Sheila Smith of Yorktown, Marvin Johnson (Claris) of New Jersey, and Starr Christian of Alabama; sister-in-law, Joyce Walker; two stepsons, Ray Johnson and Lionel Johnson Jr.; a special niece, Wanda Johnson; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2021, at Whiting's Funeral Home.  Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service.  Interment to follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.  Mrs. Johnson may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  Facial coverings are required for all services.
