Melissa “Missy” Renee Jimmison was born on February 12, 1978, to Julia Jimmison and the late Rayford Parrott. She was the eldest grandchild of John Henry and Julia Jimmison. She was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Missy was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools where she participated in the choir and the basketball team. While attending Lafayette, Missy was in the school’s production of the musical “Oklahoma!”. Her mother, Julia, says she was singing and dancing, which traveled into her adult life. In the days leading up to her death, her son, David, said his mother enjoyed singing and that will forever be a fond memory of her. After high school, Missy lived her life to the fullest. During her adult life, she continued singing and spending time with family and friends. She was a mother, sister, cousin, and loved by many. Her presence will be missed but her memories will live with us forever.
She is loved and survived by her mother, Julia Jimmison; children, David Jimmison, Andrea Jimmison, and Myria Jimmison; brother, Andrew Jimmison (Karen); sister, Monica Parrott: brothers, Corey “Kojack” Parrott, Gregory Harris, and Don Harris; aunt, Vanessa Frazier (Antonio); uncle, Timothy Jimmison; nephews; and host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Ms. Jimmison may be viewed on Wednesday in the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her service. In lieu of flowers, any acts of kindness and donations are welcomed.
