Michael Dennison “Mike” Graves departed this earthly life on April 8, 2026, with his wife, daughters, and granddaughter by his side. Mike was born on January 29, 1963, to the late Eugene White and Edith Elizabeth Graves of Toano, VA. Mike is also preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Johnson, and brother, Darryle “Stix” Graves.
Mike graduated from Lafayette High School in 1981. After graduating, he worked at Aberdeen Barn for forty-six years before retiring in 2025. He also owned a janitorial business.
Mike enjoyed yard work, cooking, dancing, and playing the lottery. He enjoyed being the Chef at home and at his cookouts. During football season, Mike also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys with his brother, Timothy “K-9” Graves, and trying to win the family football pool. Mike’s favorite words to his nephews and nieces were “All I can give you is good advice and love.” He truly cherished spending time with family and friends.
Mike's memories will forever remain with his loving wife, Joann Graves; daughters, Terri Givens (O’Brian Givens Sr.), Taniel Crump, and TeJae Stuckey; grandchildren, Alaysha Shearn, O’Brian Givens Jr., Justin Nelms, Jayda Norman, Aubrielle Givens, and Nunya Braxton; siblings, Preston Graves Sr. (Shalean), Stacy Graves (Diana), Timothy Graves, Kimberley Washington (Joseph), Queen Cooley, Patricia Johnson (Chris), and Gloria Roberson; goddaughter, Jamekia Perrin; best friends, Graig Matthews and James Canaday; favorite cousin, Lee Meekins; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.
A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at Noon on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Whiting's Funeral Home, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
