Dorothy Walker Wooten Wynne Jenkins spread her wings to meet with the Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at home surrounded by her beloved granddaughters. She was born on May 1, 1946, second daughter to the late Benjamin and Irene Harris Walker.
At an early age, she professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at All Nations Church, Surry County, Virginia. She loved the Lord, and anyone that came in her presence knew it! She had no problem praising the Lord with or without anyone else or music. She could dance, dance, dance all night! Not even a wheelchair could hold her down. Through trials, heartaches, and pain, she still praised God!
She was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools and followed her passion for doing hair as a cosmetologist.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Walker, Irene Walker-Gray, and stepfather, Obediah Gray; three husbands, Charles Wooten Sr., Thomas Wynne, and Jessie Jenkins; children, Charles Wooten Jr., and Darlene Wooten; brothers, Albert Walker, Carl Walker, Benjamin Walker, and Curtis Walker; and sister Evelyn G. Walker Jackson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance with facial coverings and social distance requirements. Livestream will be available at the start of the service. Interment to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Minister Jenkins may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of her service.
