Minnie Fowler Obituary

Mrs. Minnie Catherine Fowler was born on September 15, 1927, to the late William Henry Briggs Sr., and Molly Cooper Briggs in Goochland County, Virginia.  She was the eldest of her siblings, William Jr. (Junie), Marshall, Helen, Alice, and Rosa Lee, who all preceded her in death.

She was educated in Goochland County Schools where she developed an avid love for reading.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Winfrey Lee Fowler Sr.  Although they married in Columbia County, Virginia, Minnie and Winfrey made their home in Williamsburg, Virginia early in their union.  This union was blessed with six children.  James “Pete”, Winfrey Jr., Gordon, and Osmond preceded her in death.

Minnie dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and loved to sing in the choir.  She joined New Quarter Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. George Marrow.  She continued to serve as Church Mother under the leadership of Rev. Edward Christian until her death.

Minnie was a devoted wife and homemaker who nurtured her children and grandchildren with tender love and care. She was a deeply spiritual and peaceful woman whose presence would always make you feel that you were entertaining an angel on earth. Everyone in the neighborhood and beyond loved Mrs. Minnie.

On Saturday, December 12, 2020, Minnie answered the Master’s call at home surrounded by her loving family members.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, her daughter, Geraldine Daniel; son, Terry Fowler (Robin); grandchildren, Lawrence Fowler, Kathy Fowler, Daphne Fowler, Ivan Fowler, Daryl Griffin, Shanic Johnson, Kelvin Delaughter-Fowler, Kaleb Delaughter-Fowler, Brandon Fowler, Kimberly Fowler, LaTrice Fowler, Tyrone Fowler, Shanae Fowler, Tavonya Huff (Devin), Shakari Fowler, Thomas Robinson, Jr. (Abygail), Sharhia Fowler, Jordan Fowler, Shamar Clawson, Trysten Fowler, Christian Carter, Tamryn Fowler, Aajahne Newton, Talayah Newton, Zariyah Johnson, Kameron Fowler, Zemora Johnson, Kassidy Fowler, and Walter Curry, III; aunt, Elsie Briggs; sister-in-law, Martha Briggs; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cherished friends, church and community members who will miss her dearly.
