It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Monique Morisset, who departed this life on September 24, 2025, at the age of 89. She was a beacon of love and strength, whose presence enriched the lives of everyone she touched.
Born in Marchant Dessalines, Haiti, to father Duquene Motersil Charles and mother Nezida Jean. At the age of six, after the passing of her mother, Monique was raised by her aunt Normille Jean. Her life was dedicated to nurturing her large family and uplifting those around her. She loved helping people, and her warmth was felt in every hug, her wisdom in every word, and her unwavering support in every challenge we faced. She was a mother figure to many.
Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the traditions she cherished, and the love she gave so freely. Whether through her comforting meals, her very straightforward and no-nonsense wisdom, or her unforgettable laughter, she made our lives better.
She is survived by her nine (9) children, twenty-five (25) grandchildren, and eleven (11) great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward with love and pride. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that her memories remain with us—guiding, inspiring, and embracing us from beyond.
Children: Wilbert Jean Charles, Frederick Jean Charles, Vesta Celestin, Laurena Morisset, Mise-Lourne Morisset, Duquene Morisset, Clairmence Camille, Dieunette Sylvain, and Esperance Morisset.
Grandchildren: Manoucheka, Jean-Charles, Wilberson Jean-Charles, Anne Jean-Charles, Junie Jean-Charles, Fedler Jean-Charles, Widna Jean-Charles, Jean-dardel Celestin, Phanuel Celestin, Kareen Celestin, Gregorie Celestin, Anajoaquina Roy, Jesula Roy, Marguerite Roy, Ishmael Roy, Duke Morisset, Dochelle Morisset, Christella Bledsoe, Steeve Morisset, Daniel Camille, Gizelle Camille, Trevor Camille, Jonah Camille, Stanley Sylvain, Deenah Sylvain, Josiah Moisset, Jeremy Morisset, Lianah Morisset.
Great-grandchildren: Wilder Jean-Charles, Scarlet Jean-Charles, Madisen Jean-Charles, Casey Jean-Charles, Ayden Roy, Jordyn Celestin, Jayda Celestin, Jemila Celestin, Julien Celestin, Elijah Bledsoe, Luke Bledsoe, and Starline Morisset.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in every act of love we share, every story we tell, and every memory we hold dear. We will miss her deeply, but we are forever grateful for the gift of her life.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at New Zion Baptist Church, with a viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends for refreshments and reflections from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
