Myrtle Corrine Churchill answered the Master’s call on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Her life began on August 23, 1932, in Lively, Virginia. She was one of seven children born to the late Robert and Myrtle Griffin.
In 1949 she graduated from A.T. Wright High School in Lancaster County, Virginia. After graduating, she attended and graduated from Cortez Peters Business School in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1955, she was united in Holy Matrimony with the late Alfred C. Churchill for 61 years. Unto this union, they were blessed with two daughters.
After relocating to Williamsburg, Mrs. Churchill joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was a member of the Church Missionaries auxiliary. She was employed at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for thirty-eight years. After her retirement, she began keeping kids in her home. She loved them as if they were her own. She enjoyed sitting outside, traveling, shopping, watching the Pittsburg Steelers, the Baltimore Orioles, and being a part of the Golden Girls.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughters, Connie Churchill and Sandra Churchill Thomas; granddaughter, Alonya Thomas; sister, Barbara Tolson (Laws) of Temple Hills, MD; brother, Robert Henry Griffin Jr. (Rosetta) of Lancaster, VA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, May 16, 2022, in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with Dr. Ronald A. Ellis officiating. Live stream will be available at the beginning of the services. Mrs. Churchill may be viewed on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the church. Facial coverings are required for all services.
