On Thursday, September 26, 2019, the Lord called our beloved, Nancie Lee Edlow to Eternal Rest. Her life began on September 25, 1943, to the late Lesley Morris and Edith Marsh in James City County. The late Elizabeth Carter raised her in Lackey, Virginia.
Nancie was educated in the York County Public School System. At an early age, she joined Rising Sun Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She served on the Usher Ministry, Hospitality, and Missionary Ministry.
She worked many years as a Crab Picker for Ewell & Freeman, York River Seafood, and Bill Forest Seafood Company. She also worked at the Rising Sun Baptist Church Daycare.
She loved attending baseball games, crabbing, playing dominoes, dancing, shopping for hats, dress clothes, and high heel shoes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters, Valerie Carter-Richmond (Roderick) and Julia George (Earl); adopted daughters, Kathleen Taylor Scott and Tina Loggins; grandchildren, Remont Carter (Angel), Michael Christian (Shenita), Damion McCorkle, Eric Nesmith, Christopher Beverly, LaDawn Johnson (Elisha), Eugene Sparks III, and Terrance George; A “special granddaughter,” Brittany Warren; great-grandchildren, Reise, Joi, Jacari, LaNyja, Zayden, Jadden, Amari, Nassir, Christian, Saniyah, Julian, Xavier, Aiden, Harmony, Legend, Kaleb, Alexyeia, and Nataliah; sisters, Mildred Stone, Phyllis Allen, Maria Banks, Annette Carter (Carl), and Lynn Burks; brothers, Herbert Marsh (Ellen), Angelo Strong (Teresa), Glenn Strong, and Bobby Burks; uncle, Albert Lee Marsh; two special friends, Bernice Fields and Louise Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving and caring friends.
A service of remembrance will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, October 5, 2019, in Rising Sun Baptist Church with Reverend David O. Spratley, officiating and Reverend Horatio Wallace, eulogist. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends to assemble at the church by 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Mrs. Edlow may be viewed on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her service.
